Vito Dai, Ph.D. - Co-Founder and VP of Engineering
Dr. Vito Dai leads Motivo’s research and development of machine learning, data analytics, data compression, search, algorithms, and data structures, for applications to semiconductor manufacturing and other industries.
Prior to Motivo, Dr. Dai was Principal Member of the Technical Staff at GLOBALFOUNDRIES and AMD where he pioneered the applications of pattern matching technology in semiconductor manufacturing.
Dr. Dai is the inventor or co-inventor of 13 U.S. patents, and authored or co-authored more than 40 journal and conference technical publications. He is the principal inventor of the patent at the heart of Motivo technology, Dai, et al., “Integrated circuit design systems and methods,” U.S. Patent 9,959,380, issued May 1, 2018.
Dr. Dai’s fields of expertise include design for manufacturability, optical proximity correction, lithography simulation, machine learning, neural networks, support vector machines, graph search, information theory, data compression, adaptive signal processing and software development.
Dr. Dai holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and a master's degree and doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
